(Ecofin Agency) - Since last November 2, Guinea’s High Communication Authority has suspended the Espace FM radio station. The regulator blames the station for having diffused information likely to endanger national security and public order, and hurt the moral of armed forces. Hosts of Espace FM’s show “Grandes Gueules” (lousy mouths), however claim they were just citing a source that pointed out some shortcomings of the Guinean army.
“I don’t understand. I don’t understand what is happening. I personally believe that this is a way to silence all media that disturb. We will bring this matter to the constitutional Court… We were doing our job and it’s what we have been doing for almost ten years now…,” told RFI, Lamine Guirassy (picture), director of Hadafo Médias and host of the accused show.
Like him, many other actors of the local press are criticizing Espace FM’s suspension.
