(Ecofin Agency) - The French Group M6 just acquired a 33% interest in the Ivorian TV channel LIFE TV, which is one the four operators allowed to operate a private commercial tv service on the national terrestrial TV network of Côte d’Ivoire.
A convention was signed in this regard on December 14, 2017, by Fabrice Sawegnon, CEO of LIFE TV, and Nicolas De Tavernost, President of the M6’s board.
This alliance will enable LIFE TV to “benefit from the great expertise of its strategic partner, the M6 Group, in terms of broadcasting and speed up the development of Ivorian content’s production and its valorization as well. It will also boost the capacity building of the Ivorian audiovisual ecosystem though the establishment of a production platform that integrates a 1,000m² modern studio,” a statement indicates.
For his part, Fabrice Sawegnon, also founder of Voodoo Group, which is the leader in Côte d’Ivoire’s communication sector, will also provide his expertise of the French-speaking African advertising market for the project’s effective success.
Let’s note that LIFE TV will be launched in 2018 and will have as managing director, Vincent Broussard. The latter has headed many TV channels such as Teva, TF6 and serieclub in France.
M6 is a group of French media built up around the M6 channel, launched in March 1987. Its main stakeholder is the Luxembourg group RTL (48.26%), owned by the German group Bertelsmann.
