(Ecofin Agency) - Cote d’Ivoire will approve the creation of 10 new TV channels which are going to be received on the terrestrial digital tv network. The call to tender for the project will be launched on May 30, 2016, and last until October 31, 2016, with the opening of application.
In its release, the High Audiovisual Communication Authority said the call to tender is launched “to allow 10 commercial TV services to be clearly broadcasted”. The same call to tender will allow “2 multiplex operators to distribute paid-Tv services”. Each multiplex operator will distribute a set of channels on the same frequency.
The call to tender concerns limited companies under Ivorian law with a social capital of FCFA150 million minimum for multiplex operators and FCFA100 million for commercial TVs.
This operation falls within the plan for the liberalization of Cote d’Ivoire’s TV sector. Until now, the country only has channels of state-owned Ivorian TV broadcasting group.
