(Ecofin Agency) - The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Maikanti Baru (photo), has advised the National Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) to search for hydrocarbon in some of the green frontier basins so as to increase the country’s dwindling reserves.
According to Baru, the Federal Government is willing to put provisions in place for incentives for investors.He added that the association is a very important party in the oil and gas industry, assisting in policy promotion and formulation, which have resulted in the growth of exploration of hydrocarbon resources in the country.He however, advise NAPE to take part in the promotion of the public private partnership (PPP) in the exploration of some of the green frontier basins.
The National President of NAPE, Nosa Omorodion, has said that the main objective of the association was to encourage excellent ideas in the exploration of hydrocarbon in the country, which has aided the passage of landmark legislations like the Local Content Act, the Nations reports.
The Chad Basin, Anambra, Bida, Dahomey, Gongola/Yola and Sokota Basins together with the Middle/Lower Benue Trough forms the whole Nigerian Frontier Sedimentary Basins which have prospects of oil and gas.
