Morocco : Invited for the Africa IT Expo, journalist of Ecofin Agency gets arrested by local authorities

Wednesday, 21 September 2016 10:32

There will be no issues, this event is organized bv the government!” said the invitation letter written by the organizers of the Africa IT Expo (AITEX) sent to the young journalist of Agence Ecofin, enabling him to obtain his Visa once he’d arrived.

However, upon his arrival from Cotonou, Benin, the border-police didn’t agree with the official note, doubting its authenticity.

Louis-Nino Kansoun (right) has thus been in detention for almost 24 hours now, « the time for his documents to be verified”, in deplorable conditions, without food. Various procedures have been initiated yesterday for him to be freed but to no avail so far.

The Benin-born Journalist, Louis-Nino Kansoun, is extremely well-known by the readers of Agence Ecofin and the French Telecom Magazine, Reséau Télécom.

This misfortune might be ordinary for a young sub-Saharan going to Morocco, but it strongly goes against the Kindgom’s pro-African economic discourses.

We wish to see Mr. Kansoun rapidly freed with all the consideration to the young and brilliant sub-Saharan African Journalist.
