Nigeria: USTDA awards grant to Dangote Industries for feasibility study related to 100MW solar power plant

(Ecofin Agency) - The U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) has provided Dangote Industries Ltd a grant for a feasibility study aiming to assess the capacity and stability of a transmission system that is part of a 100 MW solar plant project which the group is developing in Kano State. Undertaking the PV project with Dangote Industries is the South African infrastructure investor, Black Rhino.

“This grid study will create opportunities for U.S. industry to supply products and services that will advance Nigeria’s’ power goals,” said Lida Fitts (photo), USTDA’s Regional Director for Sub-Saharan Africa.

Commenting the development, Africa’s richest and CEO of Dangote Industries, Aliko Dangote, said: “this grid study is a key component to the success of future grid-connected power in Kano State.”

In regards to the feasibility study, firms interested in submitting their proposals for the project should access the Federal Business Opportunities website for more details.
