The project is led by Dr. Ngozi Joseph Odumuko and chaired by former head of state General Abdulsalami Abubakar. It offers online medical services, digital tools, and reliable health information, while aiming to strengthen the system through better coordination and use of data.
The platform is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda and the national health sector strategy. Priorities include expanding universal health coverage, strengthening primary care, and building the sector’s value chain to drive innovation, jobs, and sustainability.
Launched as a public-private partnership, the initiative reflects the government’s push to modernize healthcare and ensure fair access. “This is another milestone in our journey to build a stronger, more responsive health system for all Nigerians,” said Minister of Health and Social Welfare Muhammad Ali Pate.
The rollout comes amid persistent gaps between rural and urban areas, weak infrastructure, medical brain drain, and low insurance coverage. To respond, the government has raised health spending. According to the Ministry of Finance, public health expenditure rose from 1.34 trillion naira ($873 million) in 2024 to 2.38 trillion naira in 2025.
In December 2023, President Tinubu also announced $2.5 billion in funding for primary healthcare for 2024–2026, confirming the sector’s central role in his policy agenda.
