(Ecofin Agency) - Exim Bank India will invest CFA41.6 billion ($74.6 million) in Côte d’Ivoire, to build four military hospitals and purchase equipment in Abidjan, Bouake, Korhogo and Daloa.

This was made public after the ministerial council held on October 4th in Abidjan. The investment is in the framework of the promise of Cote d’Ivoire’s government to improve the living conditions of its armed forces. In this regard, CFA5 billion ($9 million) has been released by Cote d’ivoire’s authorities for urgent works in military barracks; kitchens and dining facilities notably.

Furthermore, the government initiated some urgent measures because of the recent mutiny during the first semester. Among these measures, there is the effective implementation of the 2016-2020 Act on Military Programming which involves an investment of about $4.5 billion investment over the period. Out of the planned amount, $1.6 billion will be allocated to army troops’ equipment and $1.9 billion to operating costs.
