(Ecofin Agency) - Kenya will receive close to $100 million from the World Bank Group, vice-president William Ruto (photo), revealed earlier this week.
According to the official, the new funding will be used for a refugee and displaced persons programme. Thanks to this programme, the country expects to boost community resilience in North Kenya. The fund will also help provide access to water, healthcare and education.
It falls within the framework of World Bank’s North and Northeastern Development Initiative (NEDI) announced in May 2018 to boost investments in North and North-East Kenya. It covers the energy, road, water and sanitation, agriculture and social care sectors and provides support to host communities.
