Côte d’Ivoire: World Bank land expert team visit Sikensi

Tuesday, 19 September 2017 19:30

(Ecofin Agency) - Recently, a team of land experts from the World Bank visited Sikensi, in the Southern part of Cote d’Ivoire, in order to know more about land issues in the country. This was reported by local newspaper Fraternité Matin

André Dessié, who led the delegation, stressed on the “need for all Ivorians to get land deeds for their properties to insure peace within families and avoid potential conflicts in the country”. Meanwhile, the department’s prefect, Diaby Dao Aminata, took the opportunity to urge populations to “register their properties to preserve their farms as well as the related transfer rights”.

Answering the demands of chief villages who said procedures to obtain land deeds were too costly, the prefect insured that the partnership with the Bretton Woods institution would “not only facilitate issuance of land titles, but also contribute to the country’s economic growth and help fight poverty”.
