Monday, 02 November 2015 12:24

(Ecofin Agency) - In Burkina Faso, Karim Traoré (photo) is currently off to prison. The president of the National Union of Cotton Producers (UNPCB) is currently held at the central prison of Bobo-Dioulasso.

According to APA who revealed this information, his arrest appears to be linked to his management of the cotton sector. The median indicates that he has been criticised by some members of the Union who accused him of squandering the resources of the organisation.

His arrest comes as, a few months earlier, producers were putting his resignation from the leadership of UNPCB as the condition to their participation in the new season. Karim Traoré who was the main man of the Burkinabe cotton has held office since 2010.
