Morocco: McDonald’s eyes 50 fast-foods by 2018, to invest more than $25 million

(Ecofin Agency) - Global fast-food leader McDonald’s continues its expansion in Morocco. The US fast-food chain just opened two new restaurants along one of the country’s most used highways, knowingly the Casablanca-Rabat axis, L’Economiste revealed.

With this, McDonald’s now has a total of 39 fast foods across 15 towns of the Cherifian kingdom with 3-4 restaurants opening in a year. The firm’s goal is to pass 50 restaurants by 2018, for an estimated investment of 250 million dirham ($25.6 million).

The firm also aims, by targeting Morocco’s road network, to reinforce its position in this area which is characterized by a great traffic spurred by a booming number of gas stations. This even more since its two rivals namely Burger King and Brioche Dorée already preceded it in the segment, a few months ago.
