Olam Rubber Gabon commissions social infrastructure built in Woleu-Ntem

(Ecofin Agency) - Olam Rubber Gabon teams presented yesterday to President Ali Bongo the infrastructure put in place for the Woleu-Ntem populations.

Apart from the dispensary inaugurated during the president’s visit, the company has built and refurbished 200 km of road. There is also a bridge of 120 m, housing for the employees of the Batouri plantation, over six hundred solar power public street lamps, 41 hydraulic pumps, 2500 school kits distributed, two new schools and nine others renovated, thirteen accommodations built for teachers and medical personnel.

After his 2013 visit, the Head of State again visited the Batouri plantation in order to assess the progress of this project, which enabled the creation of 974 direct jobs, of which 93% are held by Gabon nationals. The goal is for a 28,000 hectares plantation, out of which 4,500 has been planted.
