Algeria: Wilaya Chlef to take back abandoned agricutural lands

Wednesday, 04 January 2017 17:19

(Ecofin Agency) - A technical commission of the Wilaya Chlef, Northern Algeria, is presently going round to identify abandoned or underutilized agricultural lands, El Watan reports. The commission will subsequently produce a report which will be used by local authorities to optimize agricultural output in the Wilaya.

The lands will be recovered and re-awarded under an agricultural development operation. They will be taken from those who have abandoned or used them for a purpose from they were originally intended to, in respect to regulations in force,” says the website.

Hundreds of hectares are concerned here, especially those in the fertile plain of Cheliff.
