Côte d'Ivoire: A kg of cotton sold at the same price as during the last season, CFA265

Tuesday, 07 November 2017 13:50

(Ecofin Agency) - During the 2017/18 season price to producers for a kg of cotton in Côte d’Ivoire, will be the same as the last season, thus CFA265.

This decision by the government was spurred by global low prices of cotton. According to Reuters, citing Bruno Koné, spokesperson of the government, the State should turn toward a subsidy process to pay farmers.

Côte d’Ivoire eyes this season, an output of 350,000 tons of cotton, against 340,000 tons during the previous season.

Harvest will begin around the end of this month and end in January/February.
