Monday, 11 April 2016 15:15

General vaccination of poultry helped rapidly limit the impact of avian flu H9N2,” Moroccan Minister of Agriculture, Aziz Akhannouch, said as he was indicating that the country’ poultry industry was safe from the disease.

As the epidemic spread across the Cherifian kingdom, its authorities reassured the population telling them it was safe to eat local poultry. Minister of Health, Houcine El Ouardi, highlighted that the H9N2 virus strain, which is present in various developed countries, never affected humans.

Moreover, it must be said that it is important for Morocco to prevent general panic as it could affect its poultry industry, which according to Agri Maroc, generates up to 30 billion dirham.
