(Ecofin Agency) - In November 2017, Kenya’s has exported Sh776 million ($7.5 million) worth or coffee, thus down more than 15% compared to the same month the year before, according to Businessdailyafrica.

The decrease is mainly due to the low trading of the crop on the Nairobi Coffee Exchange-NCE.

In fact, according to the NCE’s managing directo, Daniel Mbithi, while the volume exported was stable, the 50kg-bag was trading at Sh20.65 against Sh22.54 last year.

Kenya exports about 90% of its coffee output, to Germany, Belgium and USA mainly; this via e-auctions on the NCE.

The country dedicates about 110,000 ha to the cultivation of the beans and its production represents only 1% of the global coffee output.
