Tuesday, 17 January 2017 03:50

(Ecofin Agency) - The project for a textile-dedicated industrial zone which is being established in Morocco is in its final stage, daily newspaper L’economiste reveals. The project is led by the Association Marocaine de l’Industrie du Textile et de l’Habillement de la region Nord (AMITH Nord) in partnership with the Moroccan ministry of trade and industry.

Situated near Tangiers, in the northern part of the country, the industrial area will be established over 500 hectares. AMITH aims with this project, to boost the productivity of the textile industry in the region, in an attempt to beat Chinese competition as well as its African rivals.

Let’s recall that in 2015, Morocco committed to increase its textile exports revenues to €464 million, by 2020.
