(Ecofin Agency) - In Côte d’Ivoire’s capital Abidjan, Société Africaine de Cacao (Saco), a subsidiary of  the world's leading cocoa by-products manufacturer ,Barry Callebaut, will launch a new production line for butter, cake and cocoa powder by 2019.

This project is part of the group's strategy to invest CFA30 billion in Côte d'Ivoire. The goal is to boost its cocoa processing capacity to 100,000 tons from 50, 000 tons in Abidjan and as well increase its processing capacity to 130, 000 tons from 120, 000 tons in San Pedro, by 2022.

Let’s note that Saco started operations in Côte d'Ivoire for 52 years now. With its two factories (Abidjan and San Pedro), the company accounts for about 27% of the country’s total cocoa grinding capacity.
