(Ecofin Agency) - In Morocco, stock breeders are poised to make a financial turnover of 10 billion dirhams by the end of Aïd el Adha which will be celebrated on 24 September. The ministry of agriculture of the kingdom indicates on this occasion that some 520,000 goats and 4.80 million sheep will be slaughtered.

The Moroccan authorities also gave reassurance on the availability of this quantity of poultry and sheep. The country has 5 million sheep and 3.8 million goats according to data from the ministry which were repeated by website Medias 24.

The authorities indicated there was no alert either on the sanitation aspect. They also reminded that the Aïd el Adha has a substantial impact on the cash flow of small Moroccan livestock farmers.

The most important feast of Islam, Aïd el Adha or Aïd el Kebir is a commemoration of the bible story on the submission of Abraham to the divine injunction to sacrifice his child.
