Cocoa: Cote d’Ivoire maintains prices at mid season

Wednesday, 23 March 2016 20:44

(Ecofin Agency) - In Cote d’Ivoire, minimal price set for coca this season will not change. Bruno Koné, Government’s spokesperson announced that for the coming mid-season, starting next month, producers will still perceive FCFA1,000 per kg.

Though government, in the past, decreased the price at mid-season to readjust earnings due to small bean size, this year, it seems not to be case.

Due to a good weather at the beginning of the season (October 2015), the situation changed. Indeed, recent rains give a lot of hope to producers.

As about 1.3 million tons of cocoa lands in Ivorian ports, the country is now wondering if it can reproduce last year’s feat.
