Morocco to develop agro-focused trade-export platform in Cote d’Ivoire

Tuesday, 24 January 2017 10:39

(Ecofin Agency) - Morocco will develop in Ivory Coast a trade and export platform for agro-food products, reports Moroccan newspaper Medias24.

Backing the platform are means to transport the goods by sea. Its main purpose is to facilitate trade of agricultural products in the two nations and help Morocco boost its agricultural exports to Cote d’Ivoire and its surroundings.

The decision to develop the platform is part of a government-led strategy to diversify markets that purchase Morocco’s products like citrus. Truly, the kingdom aims to export a million tons of citrus in 2020, from 530,000 tons in 2016.

To achieve this, we must prepare and get into new markets. These are mainly siuated in Africa, Gulf nations, Asia and Eastern Europe, Abdellah Janati, Managing Director of the Exports Control and Coordination Organ (EACCE), told Medias24.

Ecofin Agency provides daily coverage of nine key African economic sectors: public management, finance, telecoms, agribusiness, mining, energy, transport, communication, and education.
It also designs and manages specialized media, both online and print, for African institutions and publishers.
