Côte d’Ivoire: Local exporters get extra 80,000 tons of cocoa

Thursday, 25 January 2018 17:48

(Ecofin Agency) - In Côte d’Ivoire, the Coffee-Cocoa Council (CCC) sold an extra 80,000 tons of cocoa to local exporters for 2017-18 main season, Bloomberg reports.

According to a source interviewed by the agency, the sale was finalized on Jan. 19, 2018 and was carried out directly rather than through the usual anticipatory sale.

The regulator didn’t make any comment. However, the sale comes in a context where the brown gold’s arrivals to main ports bounced by 10% over the last three months, compared to last season (2016-17).

According to Bloomberg, until the beginning of January, the country has sold 1.44 million tons of cocoa from the main season through auctions.
