Morocco concerned over Mars’ recall

Thursday, 25 February 2016 17:13

(Ecofin Agency) - American giant Mars has recalled its chocolate bars sold in Morocco. The recall which is directed to 55 countries was launched last Tuesday after a “small piece of plastic” was found in one of its snack.

The recall which will be carried out by Dislog, Mars’ distributor in the Christian kingdom, involves Snickers and Mars bars made between December 4, 2015 and January 8, 2016. A source working at Dislog said it could lose up to 1.5 billion dirham in the operation, this despite the company’s director, Moncef Belkhayat affirming that “Morocco would not be really affected by the recall”.

The recall, which should last no more than a week, should be carried out through traditional distribution media. In Morocco, Dislog who just signed an agreement with Kellogg’s, has a distribution network of 800,000 retailers and 800 wholesalers.
