Ghana: The Cashew Regulatory Authority to be set by late June

Friday, 25 May 2018 16:57

Ghana will establish a Cashew Development Board by the end of next month, President Nana Akufo-Addo announced. At the same time, an initiative of the agriculture ministry will see 2.7 million cashew trees grown over 13,400 hectares. Moreover, producers will benefit from the technical support of 900 agricultural extension agents.

Let’s note that this subsector provides about 70,000 tons of cashew nuts per year and employs around 40,000 growers. Last January, Ghana launched in the Brong Ahafo Region a cashew spraying program which is set to be deployed across the country by 2020.
