Tuesday, 25 October 2016 07:33

Spanish firm Atunlo just announced the opening of a tuna processing plant in Mindelo, Cape Verde. The factory in which Atunlo owns 51% results from a partnership with the Frescomar and Frigo groups which hold 33% and 16% stakes respectively in the unit.

The infrastructure which was commissioned in the presence of Cape Verde’s Prime Minister, José Maria das Neves, has an annual output capacity of 40,000 tons. It will generate 300 jobs, Faro de Vigo reveals.

For Frescomar which specializes in the processing of fish waste into fishmeal and fishoil, the new plant will help it reinforce its presence in the sector where it distinguished itself by improving its production chain.
