Angola: public broadcaster to launch international version in France

Friday, 03 July 2015 23:10

The Angolan public broadcaster has started emitting in France since 2nd July 2015. The French public was spared nothing of president Francois Hollande’s visit, who will leave Angola this 3rd July for Cameroon.

TPA International is the international version of the Télévision Publique d’Angola (TPA). It broadcast in France for the first time thanks to Free. The partnership includes the Angolan embassy in Paris, as well as the company Thema, owned by Canal+ group. Thema is specialised in the broadcast of conventional, themed and ethical programs.

TPA International is included in the basic Freebox TV bundle. It will be available to the TV option subscribers (€1.99/month). If the Angolan channel is specifically targeting Angolans in France, it is also available to the Freebox TV service 6 million users. TPA International is on channel 432.

“This is an important step towards the creation of a credible information bridge and cultural identity between the Angolan community and Angola”, indicated a press release signed by the Angolan ambassador in France, Miguel da Costa. He recalls the difficulties that his fellow countrymen had in getting access to their national television.
