(Ecofin Agency) - The Burkina paper Sidwaya makes its apparition in Abidjan this 6th July 2015, with its digital offspring: A mobile application of the newspaper (Sidwayamobile), 2 websites (one for the Burkina news agency and the other for the daily Sidwaya itself), and finally a digital version of the newspaper available on the website http://www.sidwayanumerique.com.

All these digital products will be launched on 6th July under the motto "Burkina news as if you were there". The official launch event will be conjointly chaired by the Burkina minister for Communication, Frederic Nikiema and his Ivorian counterpart, Affoussiata Bamba-Lamine.

Sidwaya is targeting not only the Burkinabe diaspora in Côte d’Ivoire, but also the Ivorian population as well as all interested in Burkina Faso. The country has been going through a political crisis since November 2014.

For the moment, the mobile application Sidwayamobile Côte d'Ivoire will be available to the users of mobile operator Mtn Côte d’Ivoire. To access the service, the customer will just need to subscribe to the service by dialling *420*3#. The different subscription conditions will then be communicated to the user.

The daily Sidwaya is published by Editions Sidwaya, a public company. It is an important Burkinabe newspaper in terms of renown and circulation. Sidwaya has set a record in print media by winning 9 prizes during the 2015 edition of the Prix Galian, rewarding the media in Burkina Faso. The ceremony took place on 3rd July in Ouagadougou.
