For 5 months now, French-speaking countries of Africa and France have been receiving channel Nina TV, a channel exclusively dedicated to showing African and South American telenovelas. Soon, English-speaking African world will have a comparable channel emitting in English.
The new channel has been christened Nina TV-The Novelas Channel. It will be launched on 27th July on all English-speaking African platforms. The contents will be based on the same principle as its French version: African, Brazilian and South American series. This programming will be on, 24/7. During the first year, there will be at least 1400 hours of broadcast.
The African productions will have prime spot, as there is more and more content generated in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Angola or Côte d'Ivoire. It is a segment on which Côte Ouest Audiovisuel has embarked, a company specialised in the distribution of audiovisual content in Africa,.
Since February 2015, it is in charge of Nina TV edition. The channel is available in the ABSAT package, on the different francophone MMDS platforms. It will be included in the Digital Terrestrial Television packages as and when this system is rolled out throughout the continent.
