The Ivorian press agency (AIP) says in one of its news report that 250 journalists are covering the state visit of the President of the Republic in the district of Woroba, located in the North-West of the country. Alassane Ouattara and his spouse arrived on Wednesday 22 July.
On the following Thursday, the minister of Communication, Affoussiata Bamba-Lamine (photo), promised journalists that her staff will do the “utmost” to enable them to cover the visit which ends on Sunday 26 July in optimal conditions. “We will do the utmost to ensure that journalists work in good conditions”, stated the minister to media professionals gathered in the press briefing room in Séguéla specially by the prefecture.
Affoussiata Bamba-Lamine assured the journalists that they would not face the logistics problems of the past. “Things will move in the right direction as we go along”, she guaranteed, with the director of AIP, Barry-Sana Oumou by her side.
The journalists are accommodated on two sites from where they move to the towns visited by the head of state. The ministry of Communication has provided buses for these trips. Furthermore, each community radio in the Woroba district received FCfa 200,000.
Alassane Ouattara is candidate for a second term as head of state. And even if the campaign period for the presidential election in October is not yet opened, he is not sparing the means of communication at his disposal on each of his trips.
