Burundi: CNC set Prior-Authorization Policy for information broadcasting on social media

Monday, 02 July 2018 18:54

Nestor Bankumukunzi (photo), head of Burundi’s National Communication Council (CNC) warned the country’s media against broadcasting information on social networks without permission.

“We noticed that some media, disregarding the agreement signed with the CNC, post information on social networks,” the official stated. According to him, this situation does not allow the council to “monitor the information broadcasted”.

“We’ve asked media agencies to stop posting information through these channels that have not been registered,” Mr. Bankumukunzi said, stressing that any offender to this regulation will face sanctions.
