“Television Summit”. That is the title of the conference which will take place in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, on May 31, 2016, and marked by the launching of Discop Africa, Africa’s largest audiovisual content market.
This summit was initiated by the Ivorian government. Opening the event is Ivorian Minister of Communication, Affoussiata Bamba-Lamine through a debate on the role of audiovisual content creation industries in Africa’s emergence. Talks will also cover transition to digital terrestrial television (DTT), coming challenges to which will be faced pre-paid Tv in French-speaking Africa, relations between TV and cinema or protection of rights.
Participants will also discuss new rules of production and distribution of audiovisual contents across Africa, one of the main challenges being the globalization of content produced and edited in Africa.
Among firms which will be part of the event are Afrostream, Canal+, Côte Ouest Audiovisual, Diffa, Iroko, INA, Lagadère Entertainement, TV5 Monde and Studio Co2.
