Ibrahima Sory Bangoura, Alseny Maciré Fofana and Don de Dieu Agbossou are journalists who were recently received each a 6 month suspended prison sentence, a 50,000 Guinean Francs fine added to the payment of a symbolic franc to Breweries Company of Guinea (SOBRAGUI). They were found guilty of attempted blackmail and extortion toward the firm.
Verdict was pronounced on May 3, 2016, by the Mafanco High Court. At previous sessions, SOBRAGUI’s commercial director called to the stand explained that on order of its superiors, he provided the three journalists information related to the firm’s products. However, few days later, they returned with a report and a bill of more than 24 million Guinean francs.
The three accused denied these claims and pleaded not guilty. They claimed they conducted a compromising investigation on SOBRAGUI who framed them.
Ibrahima Sory Bangoura is the publishing director of “La Logique”. As for Alseny Maciré Fofana and Don de Dieu Agbossou, they work respectively for “La Nouvelle ère” and “LaNouvelle”.
