In Cote d’Ivoire, regions and municipalities have 78 radio stations. Since December 2014, these media are gathered under the 3RC. It is an organization which officially launched its activities on April 5, 2016 with the appointment of its members.
The network will start by assessing the needs and challenges that radios in Ivoirians regions and municipalities face. A sure thing is that quality of human resources must be improved, as it is what these radios lack the most. Journalists and presenters will be trained. Also, funds and technical knowledge must be mobilized. Top-priority decisions will be taken after 3RC’s president, Denis kah Zio, is done visiting the involved radios.
HACA (High Authority for Broadcasting) and the Ministries of Interior, Communication and Security committed to support 3RC.
HACA’s president, Ibrahim Sy Savané, recalled that proximity radios have a real potential to promote local development, democracy, a better citizenship, and improve population’s access to information and entertainment.
