Wednesday, 09 March 2016 10:38

In Mauritania, a group of journalists and rappers just launched a rapped TV news edition. Called “Chi-Taari journal rappé” it is a news program made by youth for youth.

Test period for the program is over. Pilot was posted on YouTube on February 23: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pgt48ZdHQUg

Other episodes have been produced and posted and feedback from internet users is expected.

All members of the team behind the program, a woman included, consider themselves as full journalists. They succeed each other on-screen. News are given in 5 local languages.

The rapped news concept already exists in Senegal and Cote d’Ivoire. In Senegal, it is quite appreciated online and also 2STV channels. In June 2015, the news 3rd edition was ongoing. It is delivered in a critical and taunting tone. It gets you connected to traditional news.
