Algeria and France revived their co-operation in the communication and culture sectors. The cooperation topics were chosen with the French minister of Culture and Communication, Fleur Pellerin, who was attending the opening the of the Salon du Livre d’Alger (Algiers Book Show). France was the guest of honour of this event which will last until 7 November 2015.
Among the topics discussed by Fleur Pellerin (photo) and the Algerian minister of Communication, Hamid Grine, was training for journalists, digitalisation of Algerian archives or the image of Algeria in France. “I think that we will be able to, once again, strengthen our cooperation in terms of training for journalists, whether for the written media or audiovisual media”, the French minister said. She reminded that there is still the need to “fully” realise the discussions between Algeria and the French Audiovisual Institute. Just as it is important to restart the partnership in fields such as digitalisation of archives. Hamid Grine said that the image of Algeria in France is “a very important subject” for his ministry.
In the wake of these exchanges, an exhibition will be organised in Marseille entitled “Museum”, dedicated to Algeria. A second exhibition is scheduled for 2016 at the Arab World Institute, with the cooperation of Algeria. Finally, the Algerian city of Constantine will be the guest of honour at the France Book Show next year.
