In DR Congo, the National Congolese Radiotelevision (RTNC) has been served with a formal notice by the Superior Audiovisual Communication Council (CSAC). The state media is incriminated for the television programme entitled “Congo Histoire”.
During its general meeting, CSAC took this measure justified by “slip-ups” observed during previous editions of the programme. Indeed, the presenter, LushimaNdjaté, and his successive guests are accused of targeting several Congolese politicians including the powerful governor of Katanga, Moïse Katumbi (photo).
The latter is positioning himself as candidate to the 2016 presidential election, after recently quitting the party of President Joseph Kabila. Moïse Katumbi is accusing the leading party of persecution.
On the slip-ups noted by CSAC, programme presenter LushimaNdjaté and the head of the television channel are called to defend themselves to CSAC. “The Superior Audiovisual and Communication Council, after investigating the case, will take the necessary decisions”, the rapporteur of the institution, Chantal Kanyimbo, warned.
She stressed that LushimaNdjaté and his programme are repeat offenders. Indeed, RTNC has made the commitment to monitor the programme following its suspension on 27 February for 30 days.
