On March 14 and 15, 2016, Rabat, Morocco’s capital city will host the 3rd meeting of heads of Koranic radio stations of Islamic world. The event is organized by the Islamic Scientific, Educational and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) and the Association of Islamic Radios.
In a statement, ISESCO indicates that the meeting will include discussions about fight against extremism and hatred, moderation, balance and promotion of a culture of dialogue. Heads of radios will exchange on the experiences. They will determine what is needed to improve discussions on anti-extremism. The goal here is to elaborate an Islamic media strategy to sensitize youth. This strategy will be broadcasted by all Islamic countries.
Discussions will be centered on 4 major points:
1- Charia’s position regarding extremism, hatred, terrorism, dialogue and co-habitation
2- Experiences of Islamic radios in terms of fight against hatred and extremism
3- The role of communication in the promotion of a true culture of dialogue, and balance
4- Moderation and importance of the broadcasting of radio debates
Participants will come from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Mauritania, Egypt, Sudan, Chad, Gabon, Comoros, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, the Sultanate of Oman, Jordan, Palestine and Yemen. There will also be some members of the Holy Quran Memorization International Organization, imams, preachers, experts and journalism teachers.
