(Ecofin Agency) - Presstalis, the French media distribution corporation, has suspended the distribution of International print media in Senegal and in Côte d’Ivoire. According to primary information received, this is the result of the local distributors’ failure to pay their debts to the French company
Indeed, Edipresse in Côte d’Ivoire and Press Distribution Agency (ADP) in Senegal owe CFA190 million and CFA105 million respectively.
“On December 21, 2017, we have decided to stop supplying all the foreign magazines to Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire as long as Edipresse and ADP do not pay their debt. The amounts owed are too high to be bearable”, explains Carine Nevejans, head of the international unit of Presstalis, according to a statement reported by Jeune Afrique. And precisely, Jeune Afrique is one of those magazines whose distribution is suspended in both countries.
Bertrand Holl, managing director of Edipresse, assures that the process to pay the debt owed by his company has been initiated. Meanwhile, the company is suffering the French group’s decision and since, December 22, 2017, it has not been supplied with foreign magazines. Due to this, the company loses CFA25 million per week.
