The Fashion Days for Unity for the first time ever will be held in Africa, Congo. The meeting which will reunite small African artisans and actors of the African fashion industry will give the artisans a chance to get introduced into the traditional economic system.
Home to Fashion and High Couture, the first African edition of the fashion Days for Unity will take place on June 17 and 18 in Brazzaville.
15 African designers will take part in the Fashion Days for Unity. They come from Niger, Senegal, Mali, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Mozambique, DRC, Congo, France or U.S.A. In addition to the exchange platform with artisans, a fashion show featuring more than 200 creations reflecting African fashion. The show combines various forms of African arts namely fashion, literature, music and poetry.
The fashion show will take place in the night of June 18. Prior to that however, actors from fashion industry, heads of companies and media will gather during a conference to discuss challenges to the development of African fashion. The other significant moment of the evening will the networking-focused dinner.
The African edition of Fashion Days for Unity is organized by “House of MM”, an organization founded in 2008 by Congolese journalist Meryll Mezath. The event is supported by Congo’s ministry of SMEs and handicraft.
