Tanzania: Singer Diamond Platnumz arrested for publishing indecent content on social media

Wednesday, 18 April 2018 19:17

In Tanzania, singer Diamond Platnumz (photo) was arrested on April 16 for sharing "indecent" photos on social media. The information was announced yesterday by the minister of information, Arts, Culture and Sports, Harrison Mwakyembe, before the Parliament.

“There are some stars who keep posting uncouth content on social media. I inform you that yesterday we were able to arrest the great musician Diamond Platnumz, he is being questioned by the police about the indecent photos he circulated,” the official said, adding “Social media is not a garbage dump of sorts. Our country has a culture”.

Indeed, some pictures of the singer, shirtless and kissing his girlfriend, in bed, are being shared on the internet. According to the minister, although the singer has already been released, he should be sued.

Let’s recall that Diamond Platnumz's songs had already been banned for indecent content.
