Côte d’Ivoire: Online press prepares self-regulation

Friday, 18 December 2015 14:39

In the framework of 3-days seminar organized by Côte d’Ivoire Online Press Professionals Association (REPPRELCI in French), actors of Côte d’Ivoire’s online press industry will meet next Monday December 21, 2015 in Abidjan. The theme of the seminar is: “Self-regulation and economic environment of online press in Côte d’Ivoire – Which mechanisms to produce more credible and viable press companies?”

In partnership with UNESCO, professionals from the online press sector wish to analyze the digital industry in Côte d’Ivoire, identify its challenges and provide solutions. The major challenges faced by this industry include the lack of credibility as well as the precarious conditions.

REPPRELCI intends to “establish self-regulatory mechanisms for digital press, a self-regulatory institution solely dedicated to digital press, define a formal regulation to improve economic environment and make online press companies more viable and sustainable”.
