With over 367 million mobile phone users, Africa is a market to conquer for the social gaming specialist Gameloft. Vincent Brezillon, Gameloft’s director Africa, said this is the reason why they opened an office in Nigeria.
The company, in sight of the excellent results it achieved in South Africa where it has opened shop 2012, is confident to achieve its goal. “The success that we’ve experienced since the opening of our Johannesburg office, and surging sales in Africa over the last two years, completely justify the opening of a subsidiary in Nigeria, which is Africa’s strongest economy. In addition, this presence will facilitate interactions with our current and future local partners,” Vincent Brezillon explains.
Using its South African office as base, Gameloft began its expansion in Africa. The game maker already partnered with mobile operators such as MTN, Orange, Vodafone, Safaricom, Ooredoo, and Etisalat. Gameloft by doing this was able to enter other important African markets namely: Nigeria, Egypt, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Morocco or Algeria.
Over the past four years, Gameloft’s turnover in Africa has increased 536%. The company announced in a release new partnerships which will allow it to sell its games in Ethiopia and Tanzania.
