Google to support media’s combat against fake news with $300 million

Thursday, 22 March 2018 19:02

Google has just announced a series of projects to fight fake news on internet. Indeed, the US giant promised to invest $300 million over the next three years to support reliable media.

The information, first announced during a presentation in New York, was revealed at a key stage of the global mobilization against fake news.

This move has been previously suggested by press mogul Rupert Murdoch to Google and Facebook, primarily criticized for the proliferation of fake news. This suggestion must have counted in Google's decision to “highlight accurate journalism” and help reliable media to attract paying subscribers, thanks to a “financial commitment for the media industry of $300 million for the next three years”.
