(Ecofin Agency) - Migration to Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) will finally be for February 2018 in Burkina Faso. That is what the Ministry of communication announced during the meeting of the Executive Board of the Ministerial Sector (CASEM) held on December 21, 2017 in Ouagadougou.
Remi Fulgance Dandjinou (picture), Minister of Communication said: “the process of DTT’s implementation, launched on June 17, 2014 in Ouagadougou, goes well though vigorous actions remain towards its completion”.
According to him, the national coverage rate of DTT is currently at 70%. However, the goal this year was to reach at least 80% and achieved completion by January 2018.
Unfortunately, this will not be the case. During the CASEM, the minister urged officials of the Burkinabe television broadcasting company to “maintain the pace in order to cover all the national territory with DTT signals by February 2018”.
This postponement brings no certainty, just like the many dates given during the passing year by the Burkinabe Ministry of communication.
