Thursday, 09 June 2016 10:03

In Cameroon, state oil company SNH has revealed that oil production in the country increased by 19.4% to 12.3 million barrels between January and April, compared to that of 2015.

Cameroon has been producing crude oil since 1977. The country achieved peak production in 1987 before output began declining, Reuters reports.According to SNH, gas production dropped by 5.8% to 4286.6 Mmcf compared to that of last year, as a result of the fall in gas demand from the Kribi gas plant. It added that Cameroon made $142 million from its oil and gas activities between January and April 2016.

SNH also noted that field work has commenced on the floating liquefied natural gas project, an export plant being developed by Golar LNG and is scheduled to come on stream by 2017.
