In Nigeria, Oriental Energy Resources Limited on Thursday revealed that it obtained full operational control of the Ebok Field from Afren Resources Limited after the execution of the field Transition Plan in August 2015.
Oriental now owns the Ebok and Okwok assets with 60% equity. The company confirmed that it has been providing working capital to finance all field operations and it also transferred the employment of 100 important Commercial, Legal, Technical and operational staff of Afren to Oriental directly. It however disclosed that it is about to conclude the transfer of all technical agreements and contractual deals associated to the Ebok field.
According to the company, it had received the formal support of the Department of Petroleum Resources and its Partners and Farmors in the OML 67, in its assumption of full operational control of the field. Oriental-Afren JV properties in Nigeria, includes the Ebok, Okwok, and OML115 licenses.
As a matter of fact, Stakeholders have been informed that any interested party looking to pursue any commercial opportunity on the Ebok or Okwok licences, will assume all partner carry obligations, and will pay all the outstanding and material unsettled contractor debts incurred by the Afren entities, including all defaulted and breach obligations formerly covered by Afren.
Oriental reassured the public, industry, regulators and all stakeholders that the termination of Afren Plc will have no material effect on safe operations. It emphasized that production and development works will continue as scheduled, Daily Independent reports.
