Sound Energy in its operational update on the Tendrara well onshore Morocco, announced that the first well has been drilled to the second casing point at a measured vertical depth of 1,316 metres.
The casing point is the location or depth in a well at which the casing (a steel pipe placed in an oil or gas well to prevent the wall of the hole from caving in and to aid in well control) is set and cemented.
According to the company, the 9 5/8” casing is currently being set and cemented in the Lower Liassic Anhydrite formation. Sound Energy says it will now forge ahead to drill towards the third and final casing point, right above the reservoir, Energy-pedia reports.
The European / Mediterranean focused upstream gas company commenced the drilling of the well on April 20, 2016. The drilling is expected to reach a total measured depth of 2,640 m with the drilling program estimated to include coring, logging, completion and testing.
The company plan to update its shareholders on the success of each of the three casing points and attainment of a Total Depth. The concluding results of the well is to be announced following the conclusion of drilling and testing operations, about 2 months and 18 days after the commencement of drilling.
