(Ecofin Agency) - In Nigeria, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), has announced that it has made a deal with oil marketer to end fuel scarcity which has been causing noticeable queues throughout the country.
The Group General Manager Public Affairs, Ohi Alegbe, in a statement, declared that the commitment of marketers in supporting measures provided by the federal government in bringing back stability in the supply of petrol and distribution condition will help in ending the scarcity.
The statement further revealed that members of the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN), Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association (DAPPMA) and the Jetty and Petroleum Tank Farm Owners of Nigeria (JEPTFON), after a strategic meeting organised by the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu decided to put an end to the queues as soon as possible.
Kachikwu at the meeting asked the marketers to set up a practical mechanism to assure an unhampered supply of Petroleum products throughout the country.
According to the statement, Femi Olawore, the Executive Secretary of MOMAN who spoke on behalf of the association, said that key investors are prepared to work together with the ministry and NNPC to restore stability.
“For us, there is only one thing that we know how to do and that is to sell petroleum products in accordance with the law. It is just a matter of few days before we get to normalcy,” He added.
Others at the meeting also pledged their commitment to work towards ensuring that the fuel scarcity ends, This Day reports.
