Independent Resources in its operational update regarding the Ksar Hadada hydrocarbon exploration permit, onshore Tunisia, announced that the country’s national oil company Entreprise Tunisienne d'Activités Pétrolières (ETAP) has presented an application for a one year extension of the permit to the Direction Générale de l'Energie.
ETAP submitted the application at the request of Independent Resources Ksar Hadada (IRKH) its subsidiary and only contractor for the Permit.
The application is subject to the approval of the Consultative Commission on Hydrocarbons later in Q2 and when approved the extension will run from the expiry date till August 7, 2017.
Planned minimum work commitment on the Permit is to include the procurement, processing and interpretation of about 300 km² of 3D seismic as well as the drilling of two new exploratory wells to supersede the commitment to drill one new exploratory well and restart a well spud recently on the Permit, Energy-pedia reports.
“We have been engaged in ongoing discussions with ETAP in order to prepare our application for the extension and to advance our scope to target the exploration potential we see in the Acacus. We believe the proposed work programme offers greater potential to complete a successful exploration programme on the permit and look forward to receiving CCH approval in order to progress discussions with potential farm-in partners,” Greg Coleman, CEO of Independent Resources said.
